TL;DR
You need a full-program managed transportation partner. Multiple modes, dedicated strategy, ongoing analytics, and a team that runs your freight operation end-to-end.
You ship mostly partial truckload (1–18 pallets) that does not fill a trailer, and you want pooled/shared-truckload execution as a single-mode tactical tool.
Feature-by-feature

| Primary mode | All modes (LTL, TL, intermodal, drayage, final mile) | Shared truckload / FlockDirect (partial truckload) |
| Ideal shipper profile | Middle-market, $5M–$100M freight spend, multi-mode | Any shipper with frequent 1–18 pallet partial loads |
| Strategy and program management | Dedicated account team, QBRs, network analysis | Self-serve platform, transactional |
| Technology | FreightPlus One AI control tower (included) | Flock platform, algorithmic pool-building |
| Carrier model | Asset-light, 10,000+ vetted carrier network | Asset-light marketplace, shared-truckload carriers |
| Pricing model | Managed services fee (spend-based or savings-share) | Per-load transactional pricing |
| Analytics and reporting | Board-ready, dedicated analyst, custom dashboards | Self-serve dashboard, per-load data |
| Onboarding | 2–4 weeks full program; 72 hr pilot lane | Instant (self-serve signup) |
| Best for | Shippers needing a freight operation, not a load tool | Shippers needing better LTL/partial economics on specific lanes |
The Honest Take
Flock Freight invented shared truckload as a category. If you ship 1 to 18 pallets frequently, Flock is often cheaper and faster than traditional LTL because you pay for exactly the space you use, without the hub-and-spoke delays of LTL networks. Their business is a brilliant solution to a specific problem.
FreightPlus is a managed transportation provider. We do not solve the partial-truckload problem; we solve the "my entire freight program is inefficient and understaffed" problem. Our customers typically have a mix of LTL, TL, and intermodal with enough complexity that they need strategy plus execution, not a better load booking experience.
In practice, many of our shipper customers use Flock as one of the carriers in their FreightPlus-managed portfolio. When a load is a good candidate for shared truckload, we route it through Flock. When it is better served by contract LTL or dedicated TL, we route it there. FreightPlus handles the strategic decision and the execution across all options.
If you are debating between the two, the question is not "which is better" but "what am I actually trying to solve?" A single-mode tactical tool, or a managed program.
